two successful drugs operations on the Costa Blanca and the Costa del Sol this week. Both National Police operations were carried out in conjunction with the Agencia Tributaria Tax Authority, and resulted in one and a half tons of cannabis and 50 kilos of cocaine being seized by officers.

The cocaine had been brought into Spain from Colombia via the port in Barcelona, where it was smuggled into port hidden in the false bottoms of barrels of castor oil. The cargo was transferred from the port to a warehouse in Crevillent, where the barrels were emptied of the oil and sent to an address in Benidorm.

Two people have been arrested.

The second operation was off the coast of Málaga province, where a boat sailing from Nador, Morocco, was boarded and found to be carrying a cargo of more than one and a half tons of cannabis. It’s understood that the gang had planned to unload the drugs at the Cabopino marina in Marbella.

12 people were arrested in that operation.

The order of the Knights Templar, which dates back to the Christian crusades of the Middle Ages, has had to change its name in Mexico due to the emergence of a criminal gang that has usurped its traditional identity.
'It is a difficult time. If we go into those areas where these criminal gangs that call themselves 'Knights Templar' operate and we go out saying that we are templars, we are going to get seven shots,' the order's prior in Mexico, Argentine Roberto Angel Molinari, told the German Press Agency dpa in an interview.
The order's new official name is Knights of the Temple of Solomon.
